Fixer was created to be a different kind of home repair company, one that is committed to building a diverse and inclusive employee workplace, and that work is more important than ever.
We want to create a more comprehensive and thorough company response to the current events in our country and city, and this statement is not enough, but it is a start. We want to make it clear that black lives matter, and even more than that, they are important and are to be valued and respected. Institutional and structural racism has resulted in death, violence, lost opportunities, and unheard voices for our black colleagues and neighbors for generations and we must actively work against those forces in accordance with our values as a company. During this time, we are working to actively support our black colleagues, specifically, and hold space for them to react, mourn and grieve, as that is a critical need during this difficult time.
We know that this is just the beginning. We are committed to continuing to expand our support for all types of diversity within our workplace, and all good work starts with listening. We are creating small breakout sessions for our employees so we can hear from them how best we can meet their needs, and advocate for them through our actions, words and policies. We are open to listening to your feedback, as well. These actions are just the beginning and will help us continue to shape our culture and our policies towards a fully diverse and inclusive future. Based on our employee and public feedback, we are hoping to create a plan for change, including policy change, by the end of 2020.
